ADAMMA - Core for AI & Digital Biomarker Research

Filipe Barata founded ADAMMA at the Center for Digital Health Interventions at ETH Zurich, where he currently serves as its Core director. He and the ADAMMA Core investigate the potential that mobile technologies such as wearable sensors, mobile applications, social media, and location-tracking technologies can offer for the monitoring and self-management of people with chronic diseases. He works at the convergence of artificial intelligence, ubiquitous computing, and clinical research.

Filipe Barata holds a diploma (MSc) in electrical engineering and information technology at ETH Zurich. Before joining the Center for Health Interventionsn, where he obtained his PhD, he worked in the research department of Bruker Biospin, where he developed algorithms for the autonomous interpretation of NMR spectra. In his professional career he gained experience in several research laboratories, including the Department of Biomedical Data Science at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, the R&D department of LMS International (Siemens), and the School of Medicine at Stanford University.
